My Views On…
Abortion: personal choices are the best choices
Political parties: bomb them for a better future
Repealing DADT: As a queer person I feel that our community should be focused on global issues of preventing illegal wars and innocent deaths vs. the right for queer folks to serve openly while killing or serving with the chance of being killed. All of the while, I have no bias towards queer folks who want to join the military or are currently in the military. People join for different reasons, definitely. I only question the level of priority in which this issue gets.
Same sex marriage: I will never get one. I view the marriage institution as one that has been built on oppression and should not be at the forefront of the queer community’s focus. I don’t not participate in the fight for same sex marriage and hold no bias towards folks who are married.
Gender: I see genders on a spectrum and not in over lapping venn diagrams. There is no end and no beginning.
Capitalism: I’m on the end of thinking that socialism is a better alternative.
Activism: violent and non-violent activism has been and in my opinion is still necessary for progressive action. I believe in rage, but productive rage. Everyone’s angry.
Cultural appropriation: Not cool. It’s okay to celebrate other cultures, but it’s an extremely different and touchy situation when it comes to putting another’s culture out as entertainment.
the LGBTQ community: very segregrated by class and self identity , there is often an underlying intolerance and a queerarchy.
To be continued.
